Italian Opera Summer School 5th - 13th and 15th - 23rd July 2016

Study Italian Opera in Italy

The Italian Opera Summer School is an intensive week in music and language designed for vocal students, young professional singers and a student repetiteur.

Participants study with a professional language coach, vocal coach and director, all affiliated to the major UK opera companies.

The course consists of in-depth individual and ensemble sessions on Italian arias, recits and opera scenes and is held in Palazzo Pesce, a stunning 18th Century frescoed mansion in Mola di Bari, a small fishing port just south of Bari on the Adriatic coast.

The week culminates in a final performance in Italian to an Italian audience in a staged concert.

“I absolutely loved the course and found it quite life changing. I was given confidence and motivation from the coaches involved. It was the best course I have ever done as I learnt so much and felt so encouraged.  Worth every penny.”  Sarah Dunbar, soprano 2015

“I hope that you realise how unforgettable this week in Mola di Bari was for me…. There is not a day since without thinking about what I learnt and the amazing friends I made.  A huge thanks for this incredible project.” Clemence Faber, soprano 2015

"You create a wonderful, safe, authentic environment in which students can learn and experiment. In contrast to the pressure within a London conservatoire that sort of experience is invaluable! Then you add in the stunning setting and the hospitality and the result is just amazing. Thank you so much for allowing me to come not just once but twice, it was amazing!" Anna Sideris, soprano 2014

“It’s been truly inspirational and allowed me to reconnect with why I love to sing.....the Italian Summer School shines because of its small number of students, going out for evening meals allowing you to see the surrounding area and the transfer you provided from the airport makes life so much easier!”

Matt Buswell, baritone 2013

"It really felt like being part of a small company for a week.” Jamie Matthew, student repetiteur 2013

"I found the School to be the perfect balance of relaxing and productive.  We stayed in a beautiful place with lovely people and received excellent instruction on spoken and sung Italian as well as first-class musical guidance.  I will definitely try to return if I can." Matthew Sprange, baritone 2010
